I’m worried about my pet’s upcoming surgical procedure. What do you do to help ensure your patients’ safety during surgery?

Sunnyview respects your concerns for your pet’s welfare at anytime, but some client’s experience an increased level of concern at those times when anesthesia is required for your pet’s care. In addition to having you visit us with your pet for a pre surgical consultation, our registered technicians and veterinarians will take the time to review your concerns, offer you our solutions, and give you not only a written treatment plan and costs – but recommend the best per-operative testing you can obtain.

We perform a physical exam and preanesthetic testing before every anesthetic procedure / surgery and monitor your pet during surgery with ECG, Pulse Oximetry, Blood Pressure, and more. During the entire procedure, a veterinary technician will continually assess your pet’s heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk. Sunnyview Animal Care goes the ‘extra mile’ for your pet by using warming tables in our induction, surgery, and recovery areas – this simple addition to our protocol keeps your pet nice & warm throughout their procedure and, this ensures your pet’s metabolism stays at its best. You will see its effect in your pet’s remarkable recovery from their procedure – usually our pets are walking within 15-20 minutes!

We also provide appropriate pain medication using preoperative, intraoperative and, of course – post recovery medication(s).

Every patient receives post-operative pain management with our Class IV Companion CO2 Therapy Laser!

Finally, whenever appropriate, we will recommend the use of the CO2 Surgical Laser – this reduces the time of anesthesia by reducing the amount of intraoperative bleeding, reduces pain directly by sealing nerve endings as the incision is made, and finally leads to smaller incision lengths!
